As those of you playing over the weekend probably have noticed, the Albion Online Servers were not behaving like they were supposed to be.
First issue arose on Friday, November 9, at around 19:15 UTC, with people getting disconnected or encountering black screens. After investigation, it was determined that this was a DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack in progress. Mitigation protocols have been activated and were able to take away the brunt of the force until the attack subsided at around 21:28 UTC - with the servers needing a restart at around the same time.
From 22:51 UTC on, a second attack was ongoing. Mitigation was adjusted to adapt to the new attack pattern, with the server needing another restart at around 23:45 UTC.
This morning, at around 05:50 UTC, a third wave was fired against the server. The mitigation protocol managed to filter out most of the problematic traffic, with some players seeing connectivity issues during the attack. The traffic from this attack subsided roughly around 08:00 UTC.
Remnants of that lead to the need for an additional server restart at 11:00 UTC on the 12th.
We are actively working with the network specialists of our DDoS protection provider to analyze these recent attacks and to further adapt our mitigation protocols to minimize the impact attacks have on our players.

[Update 13.11.] An additional wave hit our servers at 16:45 UTC on the 12th. Filters were adjusted and mitigation seems to have worked. By 19:00 UTC we could measure no impact on our servers anymore.
We plan on compensating players for the negative impact on their ability to play. We are waiting to see if this was the end of it, before we decide on the scope. Please stay tuned for further announcements.
[Update 15.11.] The mitigation seemed to hold after the 13th, and subsequently the attacks subsided. As mentioned before, we are going to compensate players that have been impacted by the server instabilities. As such, every character that logged in between Friday, November 9th 05:30 UTC and Monday, November 12th, 18:30 UTC will receive two days of Premium time. This will be applied during today's maintenance.
