On July 14, three days before Albion's first anniversary, the biggest battle in the history of the game took place on Cumbria's northern shore.

The Dust Settles on Albion's Biggest Battle

The War in Cumbria rages as reset day draws near. ALONE and POE, as they have for many months, battle over the lands of Cumbria. POE (Partnership of Equals), has been pushing into ALONE lands since ALONE took the entire continent on Reset day.

ALONE needs to defend its warcamps daily to prevent POE from launching free attacks into their territory. ALONE is often outnumbered by POE, who employ the SQUAD alliance (led by Blue Army) to assist them in their fight. However, that doesn't make ALONE weak: they hold their own in battle, despite being constantly outnumbered.

Team Casualty, the leader of ALONE, is currently first place in the rankings. Every season point matters right now. To stay ahead, it needs to hold on to as many territories as it can. With territory reset coming this Saturday, it only needs to hold on to these territories for a few more days, which means every warcamp matters.

On July 14th, just days before Albion Online's first anniversary, the stars aligned for a massive battle in the Outlands.

ALONE readied their defenses as their scouts reported POE massing for the attack. 141 ALONE strongmen marched to battle to meet the combined forces of SQUAD and POE, 225 men strong, marching under POE banners. They met in what is, based on total Kill Fame, the largest battle in Albion's history, with 1089 deaths that will stain the Swamps of Cumbria red for generations to come. (Check out the full stats on the Killboard).

When POE marched out through the Bootsuck portal, they found ALONE guarding the cluster's warcamp. Battle commenced at 02:49:37 UTC just south of the territory, shown below, when the first death occurred. This left an entire ten minutes until the warcamp would be open for pacification or launching a GvG. Being a portal zone, reinforcements could come in as fast as they were killed. This made for an epic battle. POE used their superior numbers to attempt to envelope the ALONE zerg, so ALONE retreated back into their territory where enemy numbers were less useful and they could enjoy the defenses their tower provided.

This drew the entire POE zerg into the ALONE territory. After ten minutes of heavy fighting, ALONE was backed up against the tower, but managed to sneak out a pacification on the warcamp. Still, the fighting continued for over 30 minutes, as neither alliance would back down and admit defeat. Continuous back-and-forth engages and counterengages were made. The battle went on until POE retreated from ALONE's territory. Team Casualty member Crisis scored a total of 56 kills, making him the battle’s MVP.

What everyone wants to know here is, “Who won?” Well, it’s a matter of perspective. Mojo puts it best: “POE won by a lot in kills, TC won by kill fame, everyone won in content.” POE had the most kills. Ellipses from ALONE clarifies this, though: "If you look at individual kills, you can see the majority of the POE kills were inflated by nakeds, and nakeds picking up gear off dead bodies.”

Since the battle was on ALONE's tower, countless ungeared individuals died. So as far as kill fame goes, ALONE was the winner. Worth mentioning is that the guild Blue Army was able to get 299 kills to only 105 deaths - however, their total kill fame was only 20M compared to Team Casualty’s 29.5M. In the end, it seems like the largest gear loss costs fell on POE, despite them achieving more kills.
